AI policy

AI checks. People decide.

Where AI is used across UNIONE™ tools and services, what data it sees, and where people make every decision.

Where AI is used

AI supports three things on this site.

  • Ask UNIONE™ answers questions about the site and points you to the right service.
  • The AI Contract Intelligence Report™ and AI Negotiation Brief (paid services) produce a first report from the text you submit.
  • Fellows may use AI to organise documents in the services they deliver. The Fellow remains responsible for every conclusion.
  • For any matter that has a conflict check (every Fellow-delivered service, DPC™, assessments, resolution and filings), nothing reaches an AI provider until the Secretariat has cleared the check. Before that, every check runs on UNIONE™'s own rules on our servers. Tick "No AI on my documents" and nothing reaches an AI provider at all.

AI in every service, and who processes your text

  • AI provider in use: OpenAI. Text is sent under business API terms that do not allow training on it.
  • Before you pay, the live analysis of each service runs on UNIONE™'s own rules and shows what it found and what is missing. The analysis is not stored until you submit.
  • Once the conflict check clears, an AI brief prepares the Fellow's first read: chronology, parties, amounts, gaps. You see a short version under My applications.
  • Fellow-delivered orders and applications reach the AI provider only after the Secretariat clears the conflict check. Before that, every check runs on UNIONE™'s own rules on our servers.
  • New Fellows receive an AI credential kit; Fellowship applicants can let AI fill the form from their CV.
  • Human-only: tick "No AI on my documents" on any form. AI reports are the exception, because the AI is the product.

Free tools that never send your text

The Contract Intelligence Rating™, Clause Builder™, Clause Negotiator, CIS™ Basic Score, Agreement Toolkit and the decision tools in the AI & Tools Studio run in your browser. What you type stays on your device unless you choose to email yourself a result or contact us.

What AI never does at UNIONE™

  • Decide a dispute, or recommend an outcome to a tribunal or a neutral.
  • Appoint, rank or exclude arbitrators, mediators or Fellows.
  • Replace advice from qualified counsel on local law or representation in court.
  • Act or sign on your behalf.

Your data

AI provider in use: OpenAI. Text is sent to the AI provider under its business API terms, which do not allow submitted content to be used to train its models. A change of provider is published on this page before it takes effect.

Orders and reports are stored on UNIONE™ servers so you can download them from your private order page. To have them deleted, write to contact@theunione.org.

Do not submit information you are not permitted to share.

Accuracy and review

AI output can be wrong. Reports say so, quote the clauses they rely on, and recommend review by a UNIONE™ Fellow before any decision that matters.
