What you receive
- Recognition and enforcement route in the target country, with primary sources
- Defences debtors usually raise there, and the evidence that meets them
- Protective and asset-tracing options to discuss with counsel
- Timeline and budget range; questions for local counsel; a WLA member-firm referral if a signed opinion is needed
Why people use it
For one award or judgment and one target country: a research note on the recognition route, the defences a debtor usually raises there, protective steps and a realistic timeline, with the questions to put to local counsel. Not a legal opinion.
- You hold an award and need to choose where to enforce before the debtor moves assets.
- You want to brief local counsel efficiently and compare their quotes.
- A funder or insurer needs a structured view of the route.
Who it is for
- Award and judgment holders
- Funders and insurers
- In-house teams planning recovery
When to order it
- The day the award or judgment is issued, before the debtor reorganises its assets.
- When you must choose between two or three countries to enforce in first.
- Before instructing local counsel, so their quote answers the right questions.
- When a funder or insurer needs a structured view of the route before committing.
What it is not
It is a research note by a Fellow with experience of the route, not a legal opinion under the law of the target country. Where a signed opinion is needed, the note says so and a World Law Alliance member firm can be referred.
How it works
1. Your matter
You. You enter the matter online and upload the documents; your browser extracts the text and UNIONE™'s own servers run the analysis. Nothing is kept until you submit.
2. Enforcement route and readiness
UNIONE™ software. The Convention route, the documents the court will ask for, the defences and the State-entity flags.
3. Confirm and pay
You. You check the plan and pay by card on Stripe's secure page, at the end of the application.
4. Conflict and independence check
Secretariat · 2 working days. The Secretariat checks every party against UNIONE™, its Fellows and the Federation. Nobody reads the merits until it is clear.
5. Fellow appointed
Named Fellow. The Secretariat appoints a Fellow with the right jurisdictions; the Fellow declares independence online before opening the file.
6. Fellow's review
Named Fellow · 3 working days. The Fellow researches the route in the target country and writes the Note.
7. Second-Fellow check
Second Fellow · 1 working day. A second Fellow reviews the work in the Fellow Desk and approves it or returns it with comments.
8. Released to you
UNIONE™ software · 1 working day. The software produces the signed PDF, puts it on your page and e-mails you.

The software and AI in this service
Before you pay: Enforcement route and readiness. The Convention route, the documents the court will ask for, the defences and the State-entity flags. It runs on UNIONE™'s own servers and sends nothing to an AI provider.
The AI first read extracts the award's key facts (seat, date, parties, amounts, operative part) and checks the formal items courts usually ask for.
- AI provider: OpenAI, under business API terms that do not allow training on your data.

Frequently asked questions
Why is it not a legal opinion?
In most countries an opinion on local law can only be given by a lawyer qualified there. The note is research and decision support; we refer you to a WLA member firm for a signed opinion.
Can it cover more than one country?
Order one note per country, or ask for a quote for several.
What will the note tell me that my local lawyer will not?
An independent view of the whole route before you are committed: the Convention or treaty basis, the documents the court will demand, the defences debtors raise there and how they fail, protective measures, timing and a budget range. It makes the conversation with local counsel shorter and cheaper.
Does it cover asset tracing?
It sets out the protective and tracing options available in the target country and the questions to ask an investigator; it does not trace assets itself.
What if the debtor is a State or State-owned entity?
The note covers immunity from jurisdiction and from execution, the assets usually reachable and the notice requirements, which is where most enforcement against States fails.
How current is the research?
Every source is dated in the note. The Fellow checks the position at the time of writing; the note states the date on which it speaks.
Do I need an account first?
No. Run the application: enter the matter, see the live analysis and the plan, then pay at the end (or request the quote). We create your private account from your email so you can follow every step. Already have one? It is linked automatically, and you open it with a one-time code.
How do I pay?
By card on Stripe's secure page, in USD, EUR or GBP. UNIONE™ never sees your card details. An invoice is issued automatically.
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Orders and applications are confidential, handled by named people after a conflict check, and never shared without your consent except as the law requires.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, depending on the stage the work has reached. The Refund policy sets it out service by service.
Is AI used on my documents?
Only to prepare: the live analysis before payment runs on UNIONE™'s own rules on our servers, and after the Secretariat clears the conflict check an AI first read gives the Fellow a map of the file. Nothing reaches an AI provider before then. A named Fellow makes every finding. Tick "No AI on my documents" on the form and the AI first read is skipped; the Fellow works from the documents alone.
