ADP
UNIONE™ ADP Law Firm Certification
✦ The Michelin Star For International Contracts Practices

The only institutional mark that proves your firm drafts contracts that hold.

ADP certification tells clients, counterparties, lenders, and regulators one thing with institutional weight: this firm reviews cross-border dispute provisions to the UNIONE™ DPC Standard — the published enforceability benchmark for international contracts.
It changes how clients choose you. It changes how counterparty counsel views your clauses. It changes what your firm can tell a board when a major cross-border contract is on the table. Annual. Audited. Independently issued. Publicly listed.
ADP
UNIONE™
Your Firm Name
ADP Silver · Certified Dispute Practice
Ref: ADP-2026-0001 · Valid to Dec 2026
This firm has been audited by UNIONE™ and certified as drafting cross-border dispute resolution provisions to the UNIONE™ DPC Standard v1.0. All five audit criteria passed.
Proof that your firm drafts contracts that hold across borders.

GCs selecting law firms for cross-border mandates are increasingly asking a specific question: does this firm actually understand how to draft a dispute clause that works in our counterparty's jurisdiction? Not theoretically — in practice. Does the clause work? Can the award travel?

ADP certification provides the institutional answer to that question. It is a public, audited, annually renewed confirmation from an independent institution that your firm has been reviewed against a published enforceability standard and passed.

The Michelin Star Analogy
A Michelin star does not tell you what a restaurant costs. It tells you the inspectors reviewed it and found the quality genuine. The ADP mark does not rank law firms. It tells GCs, lenders, and counterparties that UNIONE™ reviewed this firm's cross-border dispute drafting and found the standard genuine.
🏦
Lenders checking your firm's output
Trade finance teams and project finance lenders increasingly require that instructed firms demonstrate awareness of enforcement jurisdiction at drafting stage. ADP certification is the institutional answer to that requirement.
⚖️
GCs evaluating dispute drafting capability
GCs assessing law firms for cross-border mandates ask: "Does this firm actually draft for enforceability, or do they use a standard clause?" ADP certification answers that question before the pitch meeting.
🌐
Counterparty counsel reviewing your clauses
When ADP-certified firm counsel sends a dispute clause, the counterparty's counsel knows it has been audited against a published standard. It changes the negotiation dynamic from the first draft.
Choose the tier that matches your practice.
All three tiers are assessed against the same five audit criteria and DPC Standard v1.0. The tier determines the depth of the audit, the scope of the Registry listing, and the rights that come with the certification.

What UNIONE™ reviews. Published. No black box.

The ADP audit reviews five criteria — each derived directly from the DPC Standard v1.0 six-checkpoint framework. The full criteria document is available free at theunione.org/adp-criteria.

What The Audit Is Not
The ADP audit is not a ranking. It does not compare your firm to other firms. It is a pass/fail review of five specific criteria. Either your practice meets the standard or it does not. If it does not, UNIONE™ provides written guidance on what changes would bring it into compliance.
01
Clause Adequacy
The dispute resolution clauses submitted for audit are clear, complete, and internally consistent. Each clause contains an identifiable dispute resolution mechanism, a valid seat of arbitration, a governing law, and an escalation pathway that is coherent from notice to award.
02
Jurisdiction Awareness
The firm demonstrates active, case-by-case consideration of enforcement jurisdiction for each cross-border contract — not a default clause applied uniformly regardless of counterparty jurisdiction, asset location, or governing law.
03
Escalation Architecture
The firm's standard escalation pathway — from written notice through structured resolution to arbitration — is coherent and does not contain procedural gaps, jurisdictional inconsistencies, or stages that could delay access to enforcement.
04
Trigger Precision Practice
The firm advises clients on trigger clause precision — payment milestones, force majeure scope, escalation triggers — as part of its standard cross-border drafting practice. Not as an afterthought, but as a primary drafting consideration.
05
DPC Standard Familiarity
The partner or team responsible for cross-border dispute drafting demonstrates working familiarity with the UNIONE™ DPC Standard v1.0 — its six checkpoint framework, the concepts of enforceability mapping, and trigger precision.
Not for the Magic Circle. Not yet.
ADP certification is designed for practices that need institutional recognition of their cross-border dispute drafting quality — not firms that already have four decades of brand equity in the major international markets. The prestige runs in the right direction for these firms.
Cross-border boutiques in emerging markets drafting for international counterparties
A firm in Vietnam, Colombia, or Romania advising on cross-border supply agreements needs one thing: institutional proof that their dispute provisions are internationally sound. ADP certification provides it efficiently and credibly.
WLA and UNBOUNDED™ ecosystem member firms
WLA member firms benefit from natural integration: ADP certification signals that WONE-routed client contracts will be drafted to UNIONE™ standard. It builds the referral pipeline in both directions.
Mid-market practices expanding into new jurisdictions
Firms expanding their cross-border practice into a second or third jurisdiction benefit from ADP certification as a market entry credential — proof to new clients that the firm's international dispute drafting meets a published standard.
Practices differentiating on dispute preparedness
Some firms already review dispute clauses for enforceability at drafting stage. ADP certification formalises what they already do and makes it visible to clients who evaluate firms on this criterion but have no way to verify it.
Nothing else tells a client how your firm drafts a dispute clause.

Legal directories rank firms by deal volume and peer reputation. They do not assess the quality of the dispute clauses those firms produce. Rankings tell a client whether other partners think you are good. ADP certification tells a client whether UNIONE™ verified that your clauses work.
